N.A.P: Dive into the Green

N.A.P. 1996

A recent message in Het Parool (the local newspaper) suggests that water quality in the Amsterdam canals is improving. The city launched a vessel dedicated to measuring the level of oxygen and pollution.

Up to now people in their right mind would think twice before diving into to the deep green water, but since the authorities flush the canals 4 times a week and houseboats finally are being connected to the sewage system the water actually becomes hygienic enough go for a swim.

N.A.P. – our optimistic projection about the future of Amsterdam that was on display in billboards all over the city in 1996 – seems to come true. With incredible accuracy. At the time unimaginable and now perhaps soon a reality…
