Unsolicited Architecture: Windmill De Otter

There is a dispute about windmill De Otter near our office. The owner claims that because of the recently built ‘high-rises’ the mill doesn’t get enough wind anymore to function well. Replacing the entire structure is the only option. And he already found a beautiful new location… The local government however wants to rescue the old wood mill for the cityscape of Amsterdam and prohibits its relocation.

But the controversy can actually be solved easily. The mill can be jacked up to a more windy level. De Otter can both be relocated and stay at its current location at the same time! The operation of lifting the mill can be paid for by several exceptional apartments in its shaft…
